Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of floors can Mint clean?
Mint is designed exclusively for hard surface floors. It works on most hard flooring including wood, tile, vinyl and laminate.
Is Mint a vacuum?
No, Mint is not a vacuum or a brush sweeper that can actually distribute dust on hard surface floors. Instead, mint uses cleaning cloths to both sweep and mop hard surface floors to keep them free of grit and grime. You can use popular disposable cleaning cloths such as Swiffer® brand, or the reusable microfiber cloths designed specifically for Mint.
Where can I get the disposable cleaning cloths?
Swiffer® and other branded disposable cleaning cloths are widely available in grocery, drug, and mass merchant stores.
How do the microfiber cloths work?
Dry microfiber cloths effectively gather up dirt, dust and hair. And the specially textured cloths can be used for mopping by simply wetting with water and wringing them out. Each can be washed and re-used hundreds of times.
How much space can Mint clean?
When dry sweeping, Mint can cover up to 1,000 square feet in a single cleaning cycle. When mopping, Mint cleans up to 250 square feet to focus on a smaller area while the cloth is still wet.
How long can Mint clean?
Mint’s rechargeable battery will last up to 3 hours dry sweeping and up to 2 hours wet mopping. So you can run Mint in several cleaning areas on a single charge.
Will Mint just keep cleaning until the battery dies?
No. Mint cleans efficiently so you can focus battery life on cleaning new areas rather than cleaning the same area over and over. When Mint finishes its cleaning cycle, it returns to where it started and parks itself to conserve battery. So when you’re ready to clean a new area, Mint is at the ready.
How often should I use Mint?
It depends on how dirty your floors are, but the more frequently you use it, the happier you will be with your floors. Since dust is constantly accumulating, Mint always has a job to do.
How does Mint work?
Mint uses a patented navigation system that is similar to the GPS systems found in cars, but for indoors. As Mint cleans, it maps the room so it can track where it has been and where it needs to go to clean your floors thoroughly.
What happens if I run Mint without using the Cube?
Mint can clean farther and smarter with the Cube, but can still clean without it. If the Cube is not present, Mint will clean a smaller area (approximately 350 square feet dry sweeping and 150 square feet wet mopping) and cannot perform a perimeter clean at the end of its cycle.
Does Mint clean corners and baseboards?
Yes, Mint’s PerfectEdge™ technology lets it follow right along baseboards and counters with the cleaning cloth. And its square shape helps it clean all the way into corners.
Will Mint know not to clean my area rugs?
Yes, Mint has sensors that help it detect raised transitions to area rugs and carpets so it can avoid them.
Will Mint fall down stairs or ledges?
Mint has built in drop sensors to prevent this. As it builds its navigational map it will identify and avoid drop-offs.
Can Mint work in the dark?
Yes. Mint can detect the signal from the Navigation Cube even when it is dark.
